GIS has always been a rapidly changing environment.  With constant advances in data collection, tools, devices, software, and integration, it is important for GIS analysts, GIS managers and GIS users to be able to learn about new opportunities and implement needed advances.  In “Keeping up with GIS”, we will address the evolution of GIS where a history of tools, practices and procedures guide our path forward to the future of GIS. We will facilitate discussions on tools, languages, and directions GIS professionals need to embrace to stay on the forefront of GIS, as well as address the strategies and opportunities for maintaining and learning new skills, streamlining workflows and explore the training needs for a fast-evolving discipline. Join us in Boise, Idaho October 9-13, 2017 for the 32nd annual Northwest GIS User Group Conference.

NWGIS 2017 Boise Call for Presentations

Boise, Idaho

October 9-13, 2017

Participate in the 32nd Annual Northwest GIS User Group Conference in Boise, Idaho, by sharing a poster, giving a presentation or showcasing an application. Presentations typically consist of a 20 – 25 min talk, but if you don’t want to give a full-length presentation, consider a 5 minute lightning talk instead.

Do you have an application or poster that you want to share? The annual map (including story maps) and app contest is a great way to show off your work and to make contacts with attendees who have similar interests. The event will follow both a traditional format with participants displaying a map or poster in the gallery for attendees to view and also a new approach of allowing folks with web, mobile apps and story maps to show off their work.

NWGIS 2017 Save The Date

Fri, 10/28/2016 - 12:11pm -- bbutterfield

We will offer a broad slate of preconference workshops and we will have informative and entertaining speakers. As usual, the concurrent sessions at the 2017 NWGIS will provide a great opportunity to see and hear about projects and work being done by your fellow GIS professionals from across the Pacific Northwest. Then there is the time to just chat, meet new people, and catch up with past colleagues. Conference planning has already started and we want your ideas, suggestions, and other input. Use the Contact Us link at https://www.nwgis.org/contact to send an email to the conference planning committee.

The Boise Convention Center (https://boisecentre.com) is newly expanded and remodeled and is located in downtown Boise. It will be a great venue for our event, and is close to restaurants, galleries, museums and the Boise River. Our warm days and cool evening early fall days should be perfect for enjoying Boise's vibrant downtown. Mark your calendars now and we will see you next fall.
