Come kick the tires. nwgis.org was recently redesigned. The new look and feel aren't just hood ornaments, we've got power windows and intermittent wipers now!
No really. We've gone social. Take a look around. Comment on our blogs. Take our polls. Head over to our flickr photopool and share some photos with us. And when you're tired of being Anonymous sign in to create a profile for yourself and be able to post comments without moderation. Our conference website has new wheels too. Heck, it even has a forum.
We hope you like what we have so far, but we're not done yet. We'd like to open it up even more, but before we throw you the keys we'd like to hear from you on how you think it can be better. We'd like for this to be your site.
Please add your thoughts in the comments below.
Anonymous comments are held first for moderation, but you know how to get around that now don't you?
No really. It's what we do best. We get an awesome bunch of cartographers, spatial analysts, geoprogrammers and map monkeys together in one place to share what we know. And we think we do a pretty good job of it.
website design
difficult to read the text. it isn't dark enough. you need to consider the over 50 crowd. otherwise, nice design.
web site design
Efficient, professional, exemplary
WOW! Nice.
This site looks so streamlined and professional - I love the subdued color scheme and content - very nice!
New Website
New website looks great. A great improvement over the old site. Assuming this one will be maintained and updated will be one of the biggest improvements. Thanks!
Very nicely updated. I’m glad to see this.
I do have some thoughts – nothing big.
1. Increase the contrast of the type with the background.
2. Re the about us page: The breezy tone of the pages generally works well except for a couple of spots, specifically, the second sentence of “directors” and the “our next conference” bit. If attendance is “on the boss’ dime,” the boss might not be thrilled about the reference to craft beer flowing. This is a web site for a professional group (with an IRS status), and a lot of the group support comes from government, so some discretion is warranted.
3. I assume the pseudo Latin will be replaces by real English.
4. Personally, I don’t like all the scrolling, but maybe that’s just me.
5. Ditch the “anonymous.” If it is worth saying, it is worth attaching your name to it.
Like the site, definitely an improvement over the 'old site'!

First of all – Brent is too humble. The site looks great! And works great!
It is a vast improvement from the previous version. And I’ve been successful at getting in and mucking around with some content – which will be a great advantage for the board to be able to update and blog etc.
So a million thanks from me – and I’m sure the rest of the board as well. We can talk design at some point, but for now we are looking good!
That all said, I agree with Tony about the contrast. My old eyes can use all the help they can get...
Thanks again for your effort!
