$21.00 per hour.
This a part-time, temporary position for at least two years (no more than 29 hours per week and not eligible for benefits).
This position will assist with activities related to the development and maintenance of the City's Geographic Information System. Under the direction of the GIS Administrator this position researches and updates databases; collects and inputs data; and develops, produces and analyzes output. The primary responsibility will be to update and maintain the city's water, sanitary sewer, storm drain and streets GIS data using record drawings, survey grade GPS and ArcGIS 10.X.
EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES:
Maintains record drawing tracking system and pdf files.
Imports record drawing CAD files to utility GIS databases.
Researches and verifies accuracy and completeness of utility GIS databases.
Collects field data using mapping or survey grade GPS.
Verifies and imports GPS data to utility and streets GIS databases.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.
Two years of college or university coursework in geography, engineering, earth sciences, or related field with specific training in GIS technology using ArcGIS software.
One year of experience performing a variety of the essential job duties.
Ability to effectively operate a Windows based computer including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications as well as ESRI ArcGIS 10.X, AutoCAD and other software applications related to assigned department/division.
Ability to read and interpret utility construction drawings.
Basic knowledge of global positioning system (GPS) equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Possession of, or ability to possess within one month of hire date, a Washington State Driver license.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, i.e. copier toner.
Work is performed mostly in an office environment with some time spent outside in the field in a variety of weather conditions. While in the field, the employee must stand or walk on variable surfaces including hard, even surfaces and uneven ground, as well as sloped embankments. Employee occasionally works in the right of way or construction sites and may be exposed to physical hazards such as moving traffic and heavy construction equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Indoors, the noise level is usually moderate; outdoors, the noise level may be moderate to loud.
