NWGIS 2017 Conference Planning

Fri, 12/02/2016 - 8:56pm -- bbutterfield

The 2017 Northwest GIS User Conference is still about 11 months away, but conference planning is already underway. The 2017 conference will be in Boise, Idaho, October 9-13, 2017. Linda Davis and Bart Butterfield are co-chairs. We are looking for people that would like to step up and volunteer for a role on the conference planning committee. We are looking for people for the following jobs:

  • Vendor coordinator
  • Sponsor coordinator
  • Volunteer coordinator
  • Workshop coordinator
  • Social event coordinator
  • Poster contest coordinator
  • Graphics designer – logo, T-shirt design
  • Printed program designer
  • Mobile developer – agenda
  • Social media coordinator

This is a great opportunity to contribute to our regional GIS community. It is also a good way to develop your leadership skills to show on your resume or GISP application. If you would like to volunteer, send an email here NWGIS 2017 Boise and describe what you would like to work on.

NWGIS 2017 Save The Date

Fri, 10/28/2016 - 12:11pm -- bbutterfield

We will offer a broad slate of preconference workshops and we will have informative and entertaining speakers. As usual, the concurrent sessions at the 2017 NWGIS will provide a great opportunity to see and hear about projects and work being done by your fellow GIS professionals from across the Pacific Northwest. Then there is the time to just chat, meet new people, and catch up with past colleagues. Conference planning has already started and we want your ideas, suggestions, and other input. Use the Contact Us link at https://www.nwgis.org/contact to send an email to the conference planning committee.

The Boise Convention Center (https://boisecentre.com) is newly expanded and remodeled and is located in downtown Boise. It will be a great venue for our event, and is close to restaurants, galleries, museums and the Boise River. Our warm days and cool evening early fall days should be perfect for enjoying Boise's vibrant downtown. Mark your calendars now and we will see you next fall.
