We are currently accepting abstracts!

Submit Your Abstract or Idea

Whether you are a student or experienced professional, we are interested in hearing from you. Each year, we accept a range of topics broadly related to GIS.  If you need a suggestion or idea for your presentation, here are some of the up-voted topics from our recent conference interest survey (but please do not feel limited to this list):

Topic Ideas

  • ArcGIS Pro
  • ArcGIS Enterprise / Portal
  • Arcade
  • Python / Development
  • Analysis / Modeling
  • Utilities
  • Web GIS
  • Mobile Apps and Dashboards
  • There has also been a vocalized interest in work related to drones and imagery, AI, big data, governance, and open source GIS.  The sky's the limit!

Why Present?

  • You get a discount to attend the conference!
  • Share your success stories for others to learn from.
  • Share your failure stories for others to learn from.  These are important, too!
  • Teach others the 'Tips and Tricks' you've learned.
  • Professional development.
  • Practice communication and public speaking skills.
  • Start the discussion around your topic at the conference.

Guidelines

  • Presentations will be held live in Seaside, OR.  We will not be hosting virtual sessions this year.
  • Please limit your presentation to 20 minutes. A 5-minute Q&A session will be moderated directly following.  If you have a longer-format presentation, we are often able to accommodate.  Please indicate that in your abstract submittal.
  • Presenters must register for the conference.

Map and App Competition

New this year, we are having a juried poster session at the 2024 NWGIS Conference with two $100 Amazon gift card prizes for the overall conference favorite and NWGIS Board favorite. As part of the submission, students will give a 5-10 minute presentation on their research during a technical track session on Wednesday instead of the typical poster session format. Winners will be announced Wednesday afternoon before the closing Keynote.

Students that submit a poster will receive a $50 discount code on their conference registration fee. Please have students submit their posters to natalie@drycreekeng.com for approval. If accepted, they will receive a discount code for registration. We are also welcoming presentations from professors and students up to 20 minutes in length for our technical tracks. Presenters also receive a $50 discount on registration. The deadline for poster submission is Friday, Sept 13 by 5pm PST.
